Got Questions? We’ve Got Answers!
How long have you been on the road?
Our full-time traveling adventure started on Sept. 4, 2013 when we purchased our new (but used) home on wheels.
Was it hard to downsize?
Actually it was quite the opposite. Between donating the usable things to the VVA and trashing anything with a rip, stain or expiration date- downsizing was the easiest part of the whole journey.
What did your family think about your decision to travel full-time?
As usual you can expect that everyone will have their own opinion- but surprisingly enough there hasn’t been that much negativity. If you dismiss the comments about being crazy or driving ourselves there, everyone has been… supportive in their own way.
How will you homeschool, once you get on the road?
We are currently using a combination of different curriculum as we search for the perfect complete source… if such a thing exists. We use printed texts and workbooks as well as online resources and have just started to experiment with Math-U-See!
You guys are young- what made you want to live in an RV?
We wanted change. We wanted adventure. We wanted fun and excitement. We were tired of the ‘same old same old’ and collectively made a short list of three goals we wanted to accomplish as a family….
- Move to the beach and bum it.
- RV across the country- be nomads!
- Sail around the world- become explorers
What do you do for money?
What do you do for work?
Lol. Sharee is the Director of Operations for Workamper News, Antwon handles commercial advertising and has just started an RV inspection Business, and then we have various business projects like this blog, writing articles, reviews, and helping other RVers build small business websites…. We work!
How long do you plan to travel?
We plan to travel as long as we have places to see and everyone is enjoying themselves. We do not intend to limit ourselves to the RV or to the USA for that matter- but settling down is not in our immediate line of sight.
How can you travel with 4 kids… and a dog?
“We love ‘em!”
Don’t you get homesick?
Antwon & I… not so much! But the kids do get homesick sometimes. They miss seeing their Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and of course their friends in the neighborhood. But after a quick detour- which happens more often than I sometimes like, they get a little time with friends and family back home- then we hit the road again! *Recently we headed back to Georgia and had the kids hop around from family homes, while Antwon & I enjoyed an AirBnB rental and our time hanging out with friends, doing cool things like rafting!
What is your RV Setup like?
We are currently in a 26ft travel trailer with no slides… Yep! No slides- so as you can imagine it’s pretty tight! The back half of the camper is the kids room- which has 4 bunk beds and a small dinette table. Our ‘room’ also doubles as the living room, on what was the u-shaped dinette, but we swapped the cushions out for a mattress and no longer convert the table. There’s a kitchen, bathroom, some storage and that’s about it.
