Finding Restaurants in New Places

Grabbing a meal at a local restaurant might be easy peasy in your home ton, but what about when you’re on the road? Finding a suitable, family friendly restaurant in a new town can be a difficult task if you don’t know where to look.

Here are my favorite tips for finding a good place to eat with your family while traveling

If you know someone who’s been to the destination, make sure to ask them for tips and recommendations.

Call the visitor center. They know their town best, and can offer suggestions for the best spots.

Ask the hotel, campground or front desk at the overnight accommodation you’ve booked.

Do a quick Google Search for kids friendly dining in the town.

Look in the Yellow Pages.

Search for a point of interest in your GPS.Make sure to try to keep as closely as possible to your normal meal times to avoid overly hungry kids, who are cranky at the table.

Try calling ahead to book a reservation and when all else fails grab a snack on the way to keep them from making the trip less than ideal, by misbehaving.

***I hate to recommend fast food places- but if it’s a last resort than I guess it’ll have to do. They offer kids meals, play places and are usually easy to find.
